Ulgromthier

Auric Runemaster 路 Fyreslayers 路 Bruiser / area damage

Ulgromthier is the demo’s safety net. A higher starting health pool lets him survive the mistake that ends other runs, while the Brazier Staff covers a medium-range cone with arcing magma. He is not the fastest killer, but he is the easiest champion to learn a new stage with.

Why play Ulgromthier

Auroch introduced Ulgromthier as an Auric Runemaster, high priest of a Fyreslayer forge-temple. He starts each battle with a higher health pool and wades aggressively into hordes with his Brazier Staff, which fires arcing magma projectiles.

That health buffer is not a licence to stand still, but it is a useful teaching tool. You can make one positioning mistake, see the consequence and correct it without losing the run. On a new stage or a new boss, that extra margin is worth more than a theoretical damage ceiling.

  • Confirmed starting weapon: Brazier Staff.
  • Confirmed passive advantage: higher starting health pool.
  • Reported evolution: Master of Runes from Brazier Staff + Liquid Green Stuff.
  • Demo status: named in the October demo roster.

How to use the Brazier Staff

Fight at medium range. The staff’s arcing projectiles do not require you to be inside the pack, and the extra health should be used to hold a line, not to absorb a surround. Keep the densest group in the arc and leave one lane open behind you.

The Fyreslayer’s natural temptation is to wade in. Resist it. The staff’s coverage is strongest when the enemy is approaching through a cone, so let them come and step sideways to keep the cone on the thickest part of the horde. When the line breaks, move through the gap rather than chasing the stragglers.

  • Use health as a buffer for one mistake, not as a tanking plan.
  • Keep the staff’s cone pointed at the densest part of the pack.
  • Take movement speed before a second offensive stat if the ring is tightening.

Build direction

The Brazier Bulwark build keeps the staff as the main clear, adds area and attack frequency, and takes movement so the extra health is not spent standing in poison. Liquid Green Stuff is the reported Master of Runes companion. The evolution name is community-reported, not official.

If you are struggling in the first five minutes, this is the champion to use while you learn the stage. The goal is not to top the damage chart; it is to see the elite wave, understand its telegraph and reach the next decision with health left.

Matchups

Against Death Guard, poison pressure makes the health buffer less reliable than it looks. Leave the Miasmic Malignifier’s fog and kill the Myphitic Blight-hauler before settling into a damage window. Against Skaven, the staff’s cone is excellent at clearing a Vermintide line if you stand perpendicular to it.

Against Orks, the Waaagh! adds bodies faster than a medium-range staff can clear if you stand still. Use the first half of the surge to move, then cut back into the pack when the line thins. The extra health is there to cover the turn, not to win a war of attrition.
