Warhammer Survivors demo

The October 2026 demo is the best way to learn the movement language before launch. Auroch describes it as a short, curated experience compared with the full game. Use it to test champions, evolution routes and rescue encounters, not to farm a save.

Where to play the demo

The demo is available on Steam and Xbox PC. Warhammer Community announced the new build for those two PC storefronts; this is not a console or mobile demo announcement. The Steam page includes a downloadable demo button alongside the wishlist and release information.

The demo entered Steam Next Fest on 19 October 2026. Auroch reported that the earlier demo had been played by over 190,000 people, with more than half playing for over an hour. Those numbers describe the earlier build, not the October demo.

What the October demo includes

The October build adds the Legend of Catachan and Lyssa Revenya, plus new weapons, abilities and quality-of-life changes. Malum Caedo and Neave Blacktalon return, and the roster includes Trooper Kozlowski, Ulgromthier and the new rescue encounters. The demo also adds a slight cross-universe effect to meta progression.

• Legend of Catachan: faster movement, Frag Grenades and a reported Ripper Pistol route.
• Lyssa Revenya: Rope and Grapnel control, with the official Ghost of Rhea evolution.
• Trooper Kozlowski: Lasgun squad scaling and a demo rescue objective.
• Ulgromthier: extra starting health and arcing Brazier Staff magma.
• Malum Caedo and Neave Blacktalon: returning starters with the clearest demo builds.
• Quality of life: sequence skipping and bug fixes aimed at getting back into the fight faster.

Save boundaries

Nothing carries. Progress from the previous demo does not carry into the October demo, and October demo progress does not transfer to the full game. There are two wipes, not one. That is deliberate: the demo is a practice build, not an early-access progression track.

What to practise

The demo is most valuable as a movement classroom. Learn to keep the horde in front of your attack, to turn in wide arcs and to leave a rescue ring along the same lane you entered. Those skills survive every balance patch.

1. Reach the elite wave with a working starter weapon.
2. Commit to one documented evolution and test the trigger.
3. Clear a question-mark rescue without crossing the centre of the pack.
4. Identify the Synapse source in a Tyranid wave and kill it first.
5. Spend a pick-up to create space rather than chase a kill.

Demo limits

The October build is not the launch balance. It has fewer characters, fewer weapons and a curated stage selection. Auroch has not published the demo’s exact stage list, run length or unlock rules. The community reports are useful, but they are evidence about one build.

Do not treat a demo bug, a missing weapon or an unconfirmed evolution as a launch promise. The launch build may add, remove or rebalance content. The update log records the dated changes we can verify.
