Lasgun
The Lasgun is a squad engine disguised as a modest rifle. It fires at the nearest enemy, adds Cadian squadmates as it levels and can recruit Trooper Kozlowski as a follower for other champions. Its reported evolution is the Meltagun.

Confirmed behaviour
Trooper Kozlowski begins each run with a Lasgun that fires at the nearest enemy. Auroch’s First Survivors reveal explains that levelling the weapon brings additional Cadian squadmates into the fight. The official squad feature adds the follower layer: taking an off-keyword Lasgun with another champion can bring Kozlowski to your side.
Followers attack on the player’s behalf, cannot take damage and cannot collect items. The Cadian squadmates are therefore an extension of your area of effect, not a second health bar. The Lasgun’s job is to add reliable damage while you keep moving.

The reported Meltagun route
The October demo community table pairs the Lasgun with Gauntlet and lists the Meltagun as the evolved form. Earlier community lists said the Lasgun had no evolution at all, which is why the October report is worth flagging rather than treating as eternal truth.
The standard reported trigger is a maxed weapon followed by a boss chest. Confirm both items are held and the weapon is fully upgraded before assuming the recipe is missing. Neither the Gauntlet effect nor the exact level requirement has been published.

How to use it
Fight in open lanes and strafe around the pack. The Lasgun’s nearest-target fire keeps working while you move, so there is rarely a reason to stand still and aim. Keep the formation between you and the densest part of the horde, then slide sideways as the front changes.
The Castellan’s official combo makes the Lasgun more than a starter rifle: each Cadian follower contributes to his attack power and skill. If you plan to run the Castellan at launch, Lasgun upgrades are effectively a damage investment for the commander as well as a source of bodies.
- Prioritise Lasgun levels when the squad is your main damage source.
- Keep a movement passive so the firing line never becomes a static target.
- Against ranged specialists, shift laterally instead of out-running the lane.
- Do not force the Meltagun before the base squad is online.
Build and users
Kozlowski is the confirmed wielder, and the Kozlowski dossier covers his rescue and squad role. The Cadian Firing Line build gives the demo route. At launch, the Castellan is the other name to watch because his damage scales with followers.
